Item V4DWC
Our Price: $150.99

The Black Bucket Deep Water 4 pot system uses a series of bucket systems connected to a main reservoir for the ultimate in bubble irrigation. Each bucket includes a net pot lid, a 5 gallon bucket that serves as a reservoir, air pump, air stone, and tubing (see manual parts list for a complete listing). The net pot simply snaps onto the bucket and the air pump pumps the reservoirs full of the highly oxygenated nutrient solution. Maintain or drain water using the attached water level indicator. ViaStone grow rocks included (nutrients of your choice sold separately).

Deep Water Culture Hydroponic Systems are very effective and reasonably priced hydroponic systems. They are designed around the principle that roots can be submerged under water as long as that water is highly oxygenated. The ideal water level in a Deep Water Culture system will vary with the size of the root mass of the plant in the system. When the plant is young with a small root system, the water level should be high enough that it covers about 1" of the bottom of the net pot. As the plant roots grow down into the oxygenated mixture of water and fertilizer, the water level should be adjusted about 1-2" per week until the water level in the bucket is between half and two-thirds full. This is where the water level should remain for the rest of the growing cycle.

  • What is the purpose of the reservoir? With the single deep water system the 5 gallon bucket that the plant grows in is the reservoir. How is this more convenient than buying 4 individual buckets with no reservoir other than one air pump?
The reservoir acts a a secondary reservoir to the other buckets which gives more air/water circulation and results in less fills. Since they are all recirculating, you can use a 4 outlet pump to control all 4 buckets.
  • How are the air stones rigged are they in the bottom of the buckets attached to the clear hoses do they hang suspended interested in this product just wondering about the air stones and how they are rigged
You run the clear hose through the bottom of the net pot and attach to the air pump.
  • How does the 5 gallons of water/solution in the reservoir fill the four 5 gallon Buckets? (pots)
Not only do you have one pump to plug in, but the reservoir acts as an additional water source for less frequent fillings and place to check the nutrient pH.
