Magnesium Sulfate is critical in the formation of chlorophyll. It is also useful in aiding the absorption of phosphorus, which contributes to growth, flowering, and disease resistance. In addition, it helps plants absorb nitrogen and phosphorus. Adding Magnesium Sulfate can enhance color, promote new flower and fruit formation, and improve root systems and stem strength.
Magnesium Sulfate works best on soils that are:
• Slightly deficient in magnesium
• Alkaline (show high pH) as in western areas
• Old, "weathered," and acidic (with low pH) soils of the Southeast and Pacific Northwest
• High in calcium and potassium (western soils)
